On July 10th, Teamster members Brandon Hiscock (Teamsters Canada Construction Division), Roger Spracklin (Newfoundland and Labrador Teamsters Local 855 Business Agent), and Trish Knight (Teamsters Canada Foundation) visited Ed Walters and Tina Bishop with the Community Food Sharing Association (CFSA) to present a $4,000 donation on behalf of the Teamsters Canada Foundation.
For every $1 donation, the CFSA is able to acquire and distribute $47 worth of food to families in need in Newfoundland and Labrador. That means today’s donation is equivalent to a whopping $188,000 worth of food!
We applaud the work of the CFSA as they continuously work diligently to support our communities. The CFSA relies heavily on donations from provincial and national organizations, and especially now more than ever, as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teamsters Canada National President François Laporte was not available for the presentation, but does send well wishes to the CFSA and says “we thank you for your help and dedication to so many families. We are proud to partner with your organization, and we salute your commitment.”

Teamsters encourage members to donate to the Community Food Sharing Association.
Funds raised by the Teamsters Canada Foundation through its charitable activities come from private donations, not from the dues of Teamster members. The Canada Revenue Agency also requires that foundations donate funds directly to charitable organizations rather than individuals.
The mission of the Teamsters Canada Foundation is to help the most vulnerable of our society through charities present in Canadian communities. The Foundation also supports workers who want to improve their lives by retraining or by taking courses to change or advance their career.
